Hi! I'm V!
Pronouns: He/They
Hi, I’m V (He/They)! I have experience and passion working with LGBTQIA+ populations, college-aged people, people who have experienced trauma, and those in alternative sexuality communities. I have an eclectic working style that includes, first and foremost, learning who you are and what works for you. It’s a privilege and an honor for me to do this work with you and to hold your hope when you are down. I view each person as unique and the expert in their experience; I’d love to learn more about your life in our sessions.
Why I'm a Social Worker
Being a social worker means having the freedom to walk alongside others on a healing path while also honoring a systemic, social justice lens. As Audre Lorde said, people don’t live single issue lives. There are reasons why our paths become so hard and why generational trauma is passed on. Being part of someone’s journey towards their own self actualization is an immense gift and one that I never take lightly.
In sessions, I enjoy working with what you want to bring to the table, and I’m also comfortable working with the things unsaid, parts of you that might feel too scary to talk about, or parts that feel shameful or “unallowed” by society, friends, or family. Often times when we shine a light on our tendencies we’d rather not look at, we gain something significant, like insight, calmness, or a new connection with a part of ourselves we’d disavowed.
Social work is a second career for me, in a previous life I worked in higher education administration. The parts of that I loved the most were when I got to connect 1:1 with people about their deepest struggles, and I realized with a career pivot that I could do that full-time! I’m now honored to be a part of your growth, change, and healing. Our sessions will be collaborative, client-centered, and relationally focused, utilizing approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness to support your growth.
